The main purpose of an apron feeder is to extract coarse, heavy and abrasive bulk materials from hoppers or stockpiles and feed downstream equipment (usually primary crushers) at a controlled, steady rate. It withstands heavy impact from large lumps of ore or rock.
An apron feeder is a heavy-duty feeding machine. Its main function is to discharge bulk materials such as ore, limestone and coal from dump hoppers at a regulated feed rate, delivering a consistent material flow to crushers, belt conveyors or screening equipment. It prevents surging and overloading of downstream machinery under harsh, high-impact working conditions.
The apron weigh feeder is a continuous dynamic weighing and proportioning feeding unit. As a gravimetric feeding equipment, it uses metal apron plates instead of rubber belts, suitable for harsh working conditions where ordinary belt scales cannot operate reliably.
Working Principle The motor drives the chains and apron plates. The load cell collects the weight signal of materials, and the speed sensor captures the running speed signal of the apron plates. The controller calculates the instantaneous flow rate and total accumulated throughput. The frequency converter automatically adjusts the speed to stabilize the material flow and realize controlled proportioning.
