How to maintain and calibrate a weigh feeder?
2026-10-20 14:47Weigh Feeder (Belt Gravimetric Feeder) — Maintenance & Calibration
1. Preventive Maintenance Schedule
Weekly
Clean weigh deck, belt, idlers, skirtboards; remove material buildup, caking, spillage. Buildup causes zero drift.
Inspect belt tracking, tension, cracks, wear. Check belt for material sticking.
Check idlers on weigh span: must rotate freely, no binding. Binding creates side force on load cells.
Check speed sensor: pulse signal stable, no loose wiring.
Check load cell cable, junction box: tight terminals, no moisture or corrosion.
Observe flow trend: large fluctuation = investigate immediately.
Monthly
Lubricate reducer, head/tail roller bearings (follow grease spec).
Check weighbridge alignment, mounting bolts, anti-vibration mounts, stop clearance.
Perform Zero calibration (empty belt).
Check hopper gate, seal, material bridging.
Quarterly
Span calibration (test weight / chain weight).
Gravimetric material catch test (dynamic real-material verification, most important for accuracy).
Inspect load cell for overload damage, physical contact or binding.
Backup controller parameters, save zero/span records.
Annual
Full mechanical inspection, belt replacement if worn.
Complete calibration + official certificate if required.
Check grounding & shielding for electrical noise.
